Participation & Appreciation on the ‘International Day of African Child’
Tambua utu Foundation received a Certificate of participation and appreciation on the ‘International day of African child’ 16/6/2021. This is the acknowledgement from the Government on our work, In advocating for the rights of children with disabilities in Kilimanjaro region. The ‘African child day’ originated from the Soweto Massacre, way back 1976 in South Africa at Soweto street were more than 2000 children were rioting against the Apartheid regime, asking for their right as black children who were segregated in every sphere of their life, they needed to be treated equally as other races. These children were brutally killed by the Apartheid government leaders on the same day 16/6/1976. African Union later on (1990) choses to celebrate these children and agreed that every year on 16th of June we will be celebrating and advocating for the rights of an African child.
