"Thank you for your generous support! Your contributions have made a significant impact on our campaign, helping us achieve our goals and positively impacting the lives of many."

Tambua Utu Foundation is a non-governmental organization that advocates for the rights of people with disabilities (PWD’s) in Tanzania. TAMBUA UTU as Swahili for “recognize dignity” comes as a motivation from lived experience and observations of the heartless acts towards people with disabilities in our actual communities who remained largely marginalized and underprivileged in the social support sphere from which arose the rational to contribute towards inclusive community. Through facilitating access to formal education for the children with disabilities. Supporting access to assistive devices/aid and facilities for adult and children with disabilities, enabling linkage to rehabilitation/medical care and provision of psychosocial support via home visits. In Kilimanjaro region, Children with disabilities lack access to inclusive schools and support through a combination of cost implication, traditional beliefs, physical, environmental, attitudinal and institutional barriers (Matonya, 2017). Most inclusive schools are boarding and require additional cost for parents to pay for the required facilities that the child will use while in school which most of the parents don’t afford.

Support education for all: In Tanzania, government primary schools are tuition free for those in day time (from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm). But for the blind students and those with low vision it is not tuition free because they live in a boarding facility and they contribute fees for their accommodation and food. In mainstream schools children with a range of disabilities can access education alongside their peers. However there is little provision in mainstream education and our project “The right to school for disabled children in Kilimanjaro region” is sponsoring 300 students to stay in school by providing school supplies and food for those in boarding facilities. With $ 1 per month or $ 12 per year you can keep one blind student in school.

Provide assistive device/aid: Our program also is providing wheelchairs for the physically challenged students in collaboration with CCBRT (Comprehensive Community based rehabilitation Tanzania) this year we have 50 children in need, with $ 150 you can give one new wheelchair to a child.

Your Donation will achieve: Access to basic education for all children and increase the number of disabled children accessing formal education in Tanzania. Providing access to assistive devices (Wheelchair) hence addressing causes of dropout for students with physical disabilities. Reducing vulnerability, dependency, and discrimination cases. Increase confidence, freedom, happiness and joy to children with disabilities and promote achievement in primary and secondary education.

Double your impact today, your donation will be doubled: To improve the availability of an inclusive and accessible learning environment for students with disabilities. To reduce barriers, change narratives and promote mobility freedom for students with disabilities in Tanzania.
Thank you for your support,

With gratitude,
Tambua Utu Foundation.
